Lifelong friends John and Rob met each other at school in 1982 and have both worked in the construction industry for many years. Rob started his career as an electrician and since then has been renovating houses. Whilst John runs a successful construction company, JHR Construction Ltd, which has been established for over 10 years.
The two came together to work on a project for Hamoaze House, which is a charity for the misuse of drugs and alcohol. Hamoaze House provides shelter and accommodation to the homeless, as well as support, counselling and security to vulnerable people. John and Rob converted two rooms into eight separate sleeping quarters to give people their own space during the COVID-19 pandemic. They were then asked to create additional sleeping shelters to accommodate more people. Since John and Rob had been previously speaking about setting up a workshop and building some shepherds’ huts, this could not have come at a better time. The two got to work modelling the huts on the traditional shepherds’ huts style with a curved roof design.
